Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
I hope all are well and ready for the holiday. Although late, as promised I’m writing to announce December’s book.
On December 18th at 7pm (tentatively in East Pyne) the book club will meet to discuss Leap of Faith: Memoirs of an Unexpected Wife by Queen Noor. This was a popular choice, recommended by Sarah Van Cleve. Her description was as follows:
Leap of Faith: Memoirs of an Unexpected Wife, a book written by Queen Noor of Jordan, wife of the late Jordanian King Hussein I. Sharing a personal perspective on the past three decades of world history, Leap of Faith highlights Queen Noor's views on Islam and the West; the challenges of rearing her family; her work as Queen and humanitarian activist; and her struggles to protect her husband as he slipped into the illness that would kill him in 1999.
Georgia Nugent has volunteered to lead the meeting, having expressed an interest in the topic in part because of her current role on the board of directors of a university in the UAE. As always, the meeting is an open discussion of the book and topic, so feel free to bring your own research and/or questions.
As we approach the 18th I will send around an email confirmation of the location of the meeting.
Enjoy!
