Princeton Prize in Race Relations

The Princeton Prize in Race Relations Central & Southern New Jersey Regional Committee Announces the 2014 Award Winners

A reception will be held at the Friends Center Convocation Room (Princeton University) on at 6 pm on May 14, 2014.  Alumni are invited to help honor the winners. 

WINNER: Amani Ahmed (Stuart Country Day School)Amani organized “Eleven Points”, a Muslim/Jewish youth interfaith group that performed community service projects for local charities in the Trenton area. All activities were built around shared values and religious understanding.

CERTIFICATE: Marguerite Tucker (Hun School):  Marguerite, President of the Black Student Union, organized and hosted the Martin Luther King Diversity Weekend at the Hun School. Students from Hun, Lawrenceville, Peddie and the Hudson Schools attended the conference. She also participated in the “Stop the Violence” Program coordinated by Union Baptist Church in Trenton

CERTIFICATE: Skylar Tucker (Hun School):  Skylar partnered with Marguerite Tucker to organize and host the 3 Day Martin Luther King Diversity Weekend.

CERTIFICATE: Andre Lopez (North Burlington County Regional HS):  Andre, a volunteer tutor in the “Individual Conversation Program” at the Princeton’s Davis International Center for 3 years, assisted students and visiting scholars with their adjustment to multicultural life in America.

CERTIFICATE: Jasmine Baptist (Hillsborough HS):  Jasmine, a member of the Hillsborough HS Diversity Council, identified and participated in an initiative to encourage students and staff to discuss the symbolism and emotional impact related to the confederate flag.
