CASTING CALL: Manuel vs. the Statue of Liberty

CASTING CALL FOR:
a concert reading of the musical comedy "Manuel versus the Statue of Liberty" - written by Noemi de la Puente (*86 S*89) and David Davila. The show won awards at the New York Musical Theatre Festival this past July. We have done some rewriting and are using this Princeton reading to test the new script.   It will be performed twice during the evening of February 20 at Princeton's Wilson College Black Box Theater.

Here is the description of the role we are trying to cast in the Princeton area:

Middle aged or older gentleman, any race, to play Mr. Walsh, and Senator, has some solo singing, as well as ensemble singing.

Time commitments for rehearsals and performances on the Princeton University Campus:

- February 11, Thursday, from 7:30 - 10:00 table reading , most likely in Forbes College Black Box theatre

- February 19th - 1 - 5 PM musical rehearsal, Wilson College Black Box Theatre (Wilcox Hall)

- February 20th - all day, rehearsal, and then public performances at 7 PM and 10 PM, Wilson College Black Box Theatre (Wilcox Hall)

It is a reading so there is no memorization necessary, but the actor/singer must know his music. Vince DiMura (Theatre Dept.) is the musical director who will be working with the actor/singers, and Enzo Toral (Dept of Spanish and Portuguese) will be directing it. There will be some meetings with them as the actor/singer schedule allows.

For more information, any interested actor/singers can contact me directly, and I'd be happy to answer any questions or provide the latest copy of the script.
