“Transforming Medical Logistics with Drones:
Bringing Health Products to Africa, the US & Beyond”
Speaker: Whitney H Huang
Embedded Software Engineer, Zipline International
The COVID-19 pandemic, natural disasters and war have rendered the timely delivery of vaccines, blood, medicines, personal protective equipment, food and other critical supplies --- more urgent than ever. Yet, often the only way to get such desperately needed items safely through to their destinations is with delivery drones. What recent technical advances in the design, testing and deployment of such UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) are making this possible? Our speaker will delve into aspects of Zipline’s rapid, integration-level testing that include: HITL (Hardware-in-the-Loop) testing; a Fault Injection testing system that induces pathological failure modes (in-flight); her software for a Motor Pod End-of-Line tester; and embedded and backend software for Zipline’s Launcher system. The company is a major deliverer of blood products to Rwanda and Ghana, and runs more than 200 flights/day halfway around the world, 24/7. To help accomplish this, Whitney became a certified Flight Operator and Controller, with FAA Part 107
certification.
ZOOM LINK will be sent to the first 300 who register by May 9th at

“What is irreplaceable to you?” Capturing diverse answers from the local community, a public art installation will grace Dohm Alley, near the corner of Nassau and Witherspoon Streets, beginning the week of April 12. The Princeton University Humanities Council is partnering with the Arts Council of Princeton (ACP) to host the exhibit. It will feature portraits and stories arranged by ACP Artist-in-Residence Robin Resch, a Princeton-based photographer who earned her Master’s in Architecture from Princeton University in 2003.

Summer 2021 Internships for Princeton Students
Help Deserving Princeton Students This Summer
By Offering Virtual Internships or Projects!!!
Deadline To Submit: Tuesday, March 3oth
Passing along a request to alumni to assist our incredible Princeton students from Kim Betz and Adria Mirabel at Princeton's Center for Career Development (CCD):
Greetings from the Princeton Center for Career Development (formerly Career Services). We are reaching out to alumni like you to see if you can help current students with their summer career explorations.
Given the reality that most in-person interactions and travel will continue to be limited this summer, we are asking alumni to consider hosting either a virtual internship or to curate virtual project work that can be completed by students over several weeks.
The structure of these alumni-sponsored opportunities is flexible; you can learn more about this initiative and sign up to participate by clicking here.
Please note that students interested in the experience you are offering will be in touch with you directly. The application and selection processes are at your discretion.
The deadline to submit an opportunity is Tuesday, March 30, 2021. If you have questions or want more information, please contact Andria Mirabal ’08, Senior Associate Director for Alumni Engagement & Experiential Learning (amirabal@princeton.edu).
Thank you in advance for your consideration, and we look forward to hearing from you.
