Date: Saturday, April 1, 2023, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm
Location: Long Branch – Madison Avenue, 2 Ocean Ave N, Long Branch, NJ 07740
Registration

Description
On Saturday morning, April 1, we will join thousands of volunteers on the Jersey shore to collect trash from beaches, bays, and waterways, helping Clean Ocean Action clean beaches and catalog the type of debris removed.
We will gather at Madison Avenue in Long Branch (2 Ocean Ave N on Google Maps); on street parking should be free, there’s a rest room just down the boardwalk. After receiving directions and supplies from the Beach Captain, we’ll walk along the beach and help make it garbage-free!
Afterward, those who wish will head to the Boardwalk for lunch.
We expect most will drive themselves, but if you need a ride or could provide a ride, please note that on the PA3 Registration form we’ll try to match people up. There should be parking near the beach entrance.
Cost
There is no cost for the beach cleanup; lunch is on your own dime.
Notes
- Children are welcome, but those under 12 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
- PLEASE bring and wear your own gloves (preferably reusable work/garden gloves)! A trash bucket is encouraged to reduce the number of plastic bags used. All other materials will be provided.
- You may wish to bring a small drawstring bag or backpack along with items such as a reusable water bottle, snacks, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. to make the experience more enjoyable.
- Attend rain or shine.
- Dress for the weather (It's usually chillier at the beach).
- Wear close-toed, hard-soled shoes such as sneakers (NO open-toed sandals, please).
- Wear Sunscreen, hats and sunglasses are also helpful for sun protection.

Woodcutters Volunteer Day
Woodcutters Volunteer Day
Saturday, November 12, 2022
9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Princeton-Blairstown Center
This annual tradition of setting up the PBC Campus for winter continues! PBC is in a beautiful environment. Spectacular 268-acre outdoor Campus, surrounding 16-acre Bass Lake, nestled between the Appalachian Trail and the Delaware Water Gap. Map link https://tinyurl.com/PBC-Map
This one-day volunteer event asks participants to pitch in to complete winter prep tasks and restore the property. Raking leaves, splitting or stacking wood [see yours truly above at previous Woodcutters], mulching, waterfront restoration, garden work, library cleanup, window washing, etc.
Princeton-Blairstown Center serves young people, primarily from historically marginalized communities, by nurturing their social-emotional skills through experiential, environmental, and adventure-based programming. https://princetonblairstown.org.
In 1908, a group of Princeton University undergraduates and alumni founded the Princeton Summer Camp. They were determined to make a difference in the lives of disadvantaged inner-city children by offering healthy and character-building camping experiences. In 1930, the Blairstown Campus, which eventually grew to 268 acres, was purchased. In 1973, professional staff began providing experiential education to urban youth. Princeton undergraduates continue to help staff the Center during the summer months.
Volunteer spots are limited, and pre-registration will be required. Link to registration is http://tinyurl.com/woodcutters2022. Lunch and dinner provided. Approximately 1 ½ hours from Princeton, Exit 12 off I-80 west. Carpooling planned. Looking for PA3 families [8-10 volunteers including children 10 and up] to join us; we’ll be there again.

South African Wine Tasting
PA3 cordially invites you to
Wines of South Africa
Saturday, October 8, 2022
6:00 pm – 7:30 pm.
Via Zoom
South Africa is one of the world's top 10 wine-producing countries. High quality South African wines are often sold at very reasonable prices, so they can be much more affordable than wines from other areas of the world. Wine came to South Africa with Dutch traders in the 1600s, although the wines
didn't enter the international markets until the Mid 1990’s when the Apartheid system ended and the International trade sanction were lifted. Today, about 70 percent of the grapes grown in South Africa go to wine production. Most of South Africa's wine regions are located in the Southwestern part of the
country, known as Western Cape.
As always, our sommelier Sebastian Koncurat with lead the tasting and will enlighten us about wine production in South Africa.
We will be tasting two reds and two whites, which may be ordered from Public Wines. The cost for the four wines is $82.
For Zoom instructions, RSVP with affiliation by October 4 to Mo Chen ’80 at mochen1746@outlook.com.
Public Wines is able to deliver locally and to ship out of town. Please call or email wine consultant Sebastian at the shop for details: 609 924 0750 or sebastian.koncurat@publicprinceton.com.
