PA3 Exclusive Conversation with Professor Joyce Carol Oates -- Nov. 7th 7:30 pm
On Thursday evening, November 7, 2013 beginning at 7:30 pm, PA3 will
host an exclusive "informal conversation" with author and long-time
Princeton professor Joyce Carol Oates on her most recent novel, The
Accursed, which is set in, and largely about, Princeton during the years
1905-1906. The book is based on remarkable research about a famous era,
when Woodrow Wilson, Grover Cleveland, Upton Sinclair Louis Armour, and
other notables lived and interacted in town and on campus.
The event
will be held at the Princeton home of Andrew (’66) and Anya (’73) Littauer, who have kindly agreed to host. Because
this is a private home, space is limited and participation must be
restricted to 20 PA3 members. We expect this event to be
oversubscribed.
Registration is necessary and will close on Friday,
October 18. If we have more registrants than 20, remaining spaces will
be allocated by lottery, with priority for dues-paying members.
Reading the book in advance of the event is essential and participants
are expected to arrive at the venue by 7:20 pm. Professor Oates will
not give a formal lecture; the event will be more in the nature of a
precept.
For registration, contact George L. Bustin ’70 at
bustin@princeton.edu
